Santa, a pilot who has clocked up hundreds of thousands of air miles and has been flying for over 1,700 years, is took off earlier than scheduled this year in a new pan-European campaign for EasyJet was created by its creative agency VCCP and PR agency Taylor Herring.

Titled Captain Claus, the campaign will run in the week leading up to Christmas and will be promoted with a short film across YouTube, Facebook and Instagram. Travellers will be able to follow Santa’s journey and even get the chance to share their own experience with EasyJet’s famous Captain by using #CaptainClaus. There will also be an email campaign to customers flying during this week to promote the activation to customers who already have flight bookings.

To celebrate the launch of its festive flights, EasyJet surprised children and families on board a flight to Europe. EasyJet cabin crew and staff rigged a plane with hidden cameras to capture the reactions of passengers as Captain Claus’ voice came over the tannoy and delivered presents to those onboard.

Additionally, passengers at Gatwick and Amsterdam airports will be treated to a festive 'I’m flying with Captain Claus' Snapchat geolocation filter to help them get into the Christmas spirit.
