Upright Citizens Brigade: advert-body-2 by ndp
- Location:
This month Nipsey, a leading New York City sketch comedy group performing under the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) brand, is wrapping up its successful run of The Apocablitz$, a show about the survival of a few bad apples after the sudden end of the world.
When they needed a gritty, apocalyptic look to promote the show, they turned to NDP, an ad agency in Richmond, Virginia. Both fans of sketch comedy and visitors of UCB in New York, NDP's creative team contacted Nipsey’s cast to see how we could help. The team began by reading through the script of the show, which is set after the end of the world, with a cast of unlikely survivors. Turns out, survival of the fittest was wrong, and as their tagline reads, 'Only a few a******s survived.' The team then began planning a fully-integrated campaign that would utilize social media, foot traffic, and word-of-mouth to fill the seats for the duration of their show.
The campaign began with posters but was soon followed by a digital teaser video that humorously told the story of the impending apocalypse, setting the stage for Nipsey’s show and priming our audience for upcoming content. Once viewers knew the show’s premise, a series of scripted videos and a series of confessional videos brought the cast of characters to life, giving audiences on social media even more of the Nipsey crew’s stories.
