California-based filmmaker Max Lanman utilized his directorial skills to create a stunning ad for his girlfriend’s (now fiance's) battered 1996 Honda Accord. Little ‘Greenie’ was showcased with drone footage panning over windy coastal roads and panoramic shots that define the ad genre.

Highlighting the vehicles key features such as a boot-mounted mirror, cassette player and onboard coffee pot the short video pulls out all the stops to drum up interest in the $499 vehicle – cat not included.

Even the fine print is a great tongue-in-cheek spoof of traditional luxury auto advertising.

The used car was on and off eBay after bids reached ludicrous heights, giving eBay the impression that the offers were a hoax. In a wave of nuanced marketing, car marketplace CarMax swept in to offer $20,000 for the car. Not bad for a vehicle worth $499 and with over 141,000 miles on the odometer.

The couple accepted the offer from the used car marketplace although it has noted that it is offering a big sum for some of the miscellaneous items from the ad too.
