This Friday sees the first cinema brand campaign by University of Winchester to herald its new brand, which was developed by Bold Creative. In a highly competitive marketplace the university needed to do a better job of attracting and appealing to future undergraduates. The original brief was to overhaul their brand strategy (including values, messages, personality, tone of voice and visual look and feel). This quickly morphed into a full redesign of their brand.

The re-design was borne out of co-creation workshops with current and prospective students. Working together with them, Bold proposed five very different design routes.

After internal consultation with staff and students, the university chose 'heritage' as a route so their brand would reflect the University’s stature and solidity within the higher education sector. To balance this, Bold re-thought how the University needed to present themselves to young people, not only through a stronger brand story and personality but also through a new logo, colour palette, typography, design graphics, photographic and film style. All this culminated in full brand guidelines, brand film, social media and cinema campaign and a revitalised photo library.
